By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to
be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather
to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy
the pleasures of sin for a season;
Hebrews 11:24-25
The Second Thing that causes us to go astray is believing the lie of sin. It
is an old saying echoed by many a preacher, and it is still true today, Sin never
leaves you better than it found you. Sin may look fun, but when the fun is over
the misery is far worse than the pleasure enjoyed. The getting may be bountiful
but wantonness that comes leaves you drained and broken. Choosing to exalt
your self, ends up in humiliation when you realize how little you are thought of.
Weather it be the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes or the pride of life, sin
never leaves you better than it found you.
You see sin traps you into repeating it over and over again. John 8:34
“Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin
is the servant of sin.” Sin costs you more than you would ever pay. Luke 15:17
“And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's
have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!” And in the end sin
will kill you Ezekiel 18:20 “The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not
bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son:
the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the
wicked shall be upon him.”
Sin may look like it will be pleasurable, but I know that sin will not leave me
better than it found me, and I wish that I had had the sense that Moses had.
